Some of the best shows taking place at SXSW 2011 this year are unofficial shows, and of those are quite a few house shows. This year, the 21-person vegan housing co-op, House Of Commons, is killin’ it. The bookers of three of this year’s HoC events — STAY POSI NO FUTURE, GARAGE_PSYCH_DANCE, and SUX BY SUXWEST — have curated this mixtape below. And though all three events are fairly different, they have some overlap, as you’ll see, in noise and experimental.

Come out for two-stage show of complete ridiculousness, which will feature a host of talented musicians that cover all three of the subgenres one might expect from an event titled GARAGE_PSYCH_DANCE — with plenty of genre-mixing in-between. – DETAILS

SUX BY SUXWEST (aka FUCK BY SHITDICK, WHAT UH THEFUCK, or whatever else your brain decides to call it) is an all-day long harsh noise, power electronics, and experimental music event that is having its first year at SXSW. It is run by Johnathan Cash (aka Breakdancing Ronald Reagan), and he hopes it becomes an annual South By Southwest event. So if you like what you see this time around, remember its only gonna get bigger and sicker as every year passes. – DETAILS
Breakdancing Ronald Reagan – “Tyra Banks Is My Butt”
Breakdancing Ronald Reagan is the solo Harsh Noise project of Johnathan Cash (Austin, TX), a vehicle of human stupidity driven by found electronics. Dumpster diving for dummies, the musical.
Black Vomit – Live At Brave New Books, February 24th
Black Vomit is a Death Industrial/Power Electronics side project of Witch-Houser SSSAVIOR (Austin, TX). Bloody, drug-ridden, masked, terrifying.
Element Operation – “Taking Back”
Element Operation is the noise rock meets bedroom shoegaze meets lo-fi indie project of Jason Element (Las Vegas, Nevada). He’s been playing guitar before he was even born.
Sex Bruises – “Too Bruised To Fuck”
Sex Bruises are a 2-piece heavy electronics act consisting of bf/gf duo Matt Lacomette and Ali Pharmakidis (Austin, TX). They mix piles of distortion and screaming with tortured bass guitar and cymbals. They are currently preparing for a tour of Japan.
Montezuma – “Weed”
Montezuma is whats left of Jeremiah Trinidad (Sante Fe, New Mexico). Sometimes its full of beats, other times drones, other times he gets drunk and yells at you on Facebook Chat. Freak beats for the divine of mind.
Protists Of Nebula – “Untitled”
Protists Of Nebula are Raiden Zimmerman and Zachariah Guttowsky (Spring, TX) expressing their own body modification interests through sound. Creepy ski-masked power electronics kids you don’t wanna meet in a dark alleyway.
Heartstrung – “Crushing Hopes Desires”
Heartstrung is the solo Harsh Noise Wall vehicle of Matt Boettke (Washington D.C.). No patriotism, no tea-bagging, just extreme walls of sound. There’s no such thing as “too many distortion pedals” when you’re Heartstrung.
