The debut LP release by MEN -- JD Samson of Le Tigre's newest project -- released early this month. Known for funky DIY outfits (mouse house hats!) and topical lyrics with the goal of giving a voice to the young and the lesbian, Talk About Body opened to mixed...

With every one-word, disgustingly pleasant band name, like Houses or Lovers, comes a flood of inferred qualities -- those of washed out Polaroid aesthetics, massive synth usage, and healthy doses of male-female vocals. It is almost too convenient, then, that the Los Angeles-based male-female duo Kisses shares all -- yes, all -- of those same qualities. Jupe Jupe's Invaders is a fun dance album that would appeal to anyone that loves the '80s and throbbing beats. There's a very strong '80s sound, especially in the first half of the album, which has heavy Depeche Mode stylings, including low, moody vocals. The best of these songs...

On OMD's first studio album in 14 years -- and their first album featuring their original lineup in 24 years, the band immediately head back to their classic sound with "New Babies/New Toys." The only difference is that everything sounds a bit harder, and frontman Andy McCluskey's voice is stronger...

I was initially inclined to hate this record, but I found myself humming along by the second track. Seriously. Make no mistake that there's an audience for a band like The Birthday Massacre and their fourth album, Pins and Needles.  Less on the heavy rock and more with an emphasis...

KANGAROO comes out the tail end of August, and it is a summery blockbuster of an album -- a caffeine-riddled energetic blast full of feel-good pop songwriting. The synthpop songs are short,...

If you own a pair of comfortable dancing shoes, Viper Creek Club's album, Letters, is sure to bring out your inner Fred Astaire or Boogaloo Shrimp. No doubt put together with an array of synths and an endless cache of ideas, all the electronic blips and subtle sound effects will...

ceo is the mysterious lower-cased synthpop project of Eric Berglund, one half of the Swedish electropop duo, The Tough Alliance. Self-described as "raspberries and Chlamydia.. lost love and Rihanna's voice" -- amongst many other things -- White Magic may bring Of Montreal to mind, but the quirky use of samples...

Pretty much everything about Lookbook's newest LP, Wild At Heart -- including their choice of album name -- confirms that they remain deeply enamored with the 1980s. With their synthpop sound under lead vocalist Maggie Morrison's wail, which is most aptly described as a fresh take on Cyndi Lauper's signature...
